With 14 years financial industry experience, James Carter set up Company Wills as he saw a real need to protect busy entrepreneurs who are so focused on their businesses, that they often don't receive simple advice that would safeguard all they are working towards.
Having set up his own successful practice in 2006, James has become an expert at dealing with self-employed individuals and facilitating their on-going financial requirements. Be this tailored mortgage advice or protection planning, it became apparent that there was a lack of relevant advice provided to businesses.
Becoming a conduit for many of these individuals and helping to bridge the gap between business adviser and financier, the lack of cover arranged for Company's was startling. The feedback that being able to help with all enquiries, be it often through trusted Associates, was invaluable.

We aim to provide you with tailored advice and protection against the eventualities we have witnessed on numerous occasions. Having the right cover in place is essential. We have the UK's largest provider of Independent Financial Advice, Bankhall PMS, in the background as our independent network support, providing bulk-negotiating power, coupled with the individual service you receive from ourselves.
James is a frequent provider of media and industry comment, including BBC's Working Lunch, Money Marketing, The Times and FT Adviser. James is also a member of numerous professional associations and a Yahoo! Answers expert. His latest professional achievement is CerGI - the Certificate in Regulated General Insurance, having started with his Financial Planning Certificates in 1998. All staff are encouraged to train and sit appropriate examinations to ensure their growth and the company's with it.
Outside of the office James is a keen runner, with a few half marathons under his belt, to allow him to indulge in his foodie passion. Of the weekend the odd football may be kicked, hike completed and gig attended.
With 22 years’ experience working in the Independent Financial Services arena (I know, it’s hard to believe!), Mortgages and Financial Protection advice have always been his main business areas of expertise.
As highly qualified as possible in the industry, James is also a member of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries and a frequent media commentator. James has built the company to be much respected within the industry, maintaining key account status with all top lenders.
A coffee lover, always at hand for a chat and a pour-over. An armchair football expert, Middlesbrough mad, a MAMIL and (formerly) gym bunny to boot. Reading a lot more at present – Malcolm Gladwell, Murakami and Alan Bennett particularly favourites. Family is everything.

Oliver has been working in financial services for 10 years now and has been with ij for the last 7. A fully qualified Mortgage Adviser, gaining distinctions in his Mortgage examinations, Oliver is also Head of Research and currently halfway through his CeMap Diploma.
Determined to travel the world and passionate about cars, he is keen to get back out there once restrictions are lifted to visit new and interesting places; most recently combining both interests and driving to Germany for a few laps around the famous Nurbugring.
Committed to customer service and always ready to go the extra mile, Oliver is a key member of the team and always ready to chat (remotely!) over a Green Tea. An early starter, you’ll often find him logged on at 8am - keen to accommodate client needs wherever possible.
Fun Fact: Oliver is in the middle of his own house renovation project; juggling several balls at once!
Tom has been with ij for over 6 years now and having passed his Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) he has been one of our key Mortgage and Insurance Advisers for over 3 years now. Currently working remotely, Tom is always available to assist with even the most complex of enquiries and is dedicated to providing the best possible service.
With current restrictions in place, Tom's normal life of playing football and socialising has been replaced with home-cooked meals and weekends on the golf course, albeit keeping to social distancing rules!
Having had to postpone his wedding due to the outbreak, Tom has a busy 2021 planned; though it gives him time to complete his CeMap Diploma this year!
Fun fact: During his school years Tom was on the books at Chelsea FC where he was on the path to becoming a Premier League footballer. Although that didn't quite work out, it's not all bad as he now gets to work at ij!

A keen sports fan, Dan's spare time consists of watching West Ham, Boxing & Cricket whenever possible. Dan also spends time keeping fit and socialising, especially since starting work in London. Now in lockdown, Dan has turned his attention to DIY to keep occupied on weekends.
